Beginner Adult Riding Program
Join our Beginner Adult Rider Program! Have you always dreamed of riding but never had the chance?  Or maybe you rode as a child and have taken some years off?  It’s never too late!  Riding isn’t just for kids. Let our staff introduce or re-introduce you to the wonderful world of horses along with other riders your age at a relaxed and fun pace.

Classes meet Wednesday at 10:00 am, Thursday at 11:00 am and Tuesday at 6:30pm.

Pony Pre-School
The pony preschool program is open to children ages 3 to 5 while accompanied by an adult.  The program is designed to introduce children to ponies through fun and interactive activities. The children and their adult learn how to groom and tack their pony.  Adults learn how to safely lead the pony and assist their child.  Children learn basic riding skills such as walk, halt, steering, mounting and dismounting.

Intro to Riding (ages 6 - 12 and ages 13-17)
Small group instruction gives children a safe, fun introduction to horses and riding.  Children learn leading, grooming, tacking and safe handling of horses and ponies as well as basic riding skills.

Pet-a-Pony (ages 6-12)
This one hour session includes a tour of the barn, learning general safety around horses and ponies, a demonstration of grooming and the tools used to groom and to take a turn at briefly groom a pony.  Pet-a-Pony is a non-riding introduction to ponies.
One hour session: $15.00 per person/non-participating adults are free when accompanying a minor child.

Horse Behavior and Safety (ages 13-Adult)
This one hour session is an excellent introduction for beginning riders or anyone who is unfamiliar with horses.  The one and one half hour session includes a tour of the barn and a grooming, leading, handling demonstration.  Students learn how about the nature of horses, their instincts, and how to safely work around and handle horses.  Horse Behavior and Safety is a non riding introduction to horses and ponies and is a helpful class to take before taking a riding lesson.
One and one half hour session: $25.00 per person
Girl Scouts
The Riding Academy offers programs to local Girl Scout Troops that provide the opportunity for girls to earn horse or pet related badges.

Interscholastic Riding Team
The Riding Academy is host to the Patriots Interscholastic Riding Team coached by Tara Franklin.  The riding team is a member of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association whic was formed to offer organized competition to middle and secondary school students.

How to be a Horse Parent
Everything you need to know to be a parent to a horse crazy kid.  Lessons include how to assist your child with horse or pony handling including haltering, leading, grooming, tacking and safety as well as how to handle when or if your child has a fall.  We will also cover proper clothing for riding, where to purchase riding items and how to interpret the horse lingo you'll hear your child using around the barn.

Women's Riding Group
Fun, low key group lesson geared toward a relaxed education in riding.  Lessons will work at a level the group is comfortable with and progress at a rate the group feels confident at.  No pressure - just FUN!

Giddy-up Try It (ages 6-Adult)
This two hour session includes a tour of the barn, a discussion about safety, horse behavior, a grooming and tacking demonstration and a discussion of basic riding skills followed by a brief ride on a horse or pony.  The class is designed as an introduction to horses and riding.
Two hour session: $40.00 per person

The Riding Academy is open to riders of all ages and levels of experience.  Our goal is to develop well-rounded and well educated horse persons who have the skills to not only ride well but to be knowlegable and capable of caring for horses well.
Our riders learn how to groom effectively and how to properly handle and tack horses in a safe manner right from their very first lesson.
We have programs for first time riders of any age including a pre-school program for a parent and child to participate in together. 
We also have more advanced programs for more experienced riders.  What ever your goals may be, we have a program for you! 

Lessons are held Monday through Saturday with both group and private lessons available.  Groups are made up of no more than four riders at the same skill level.
